(Preliminary )Details on Saturday Oct 24, 2026 drill
Mountain View will hold a city wide CERT drill on Saturday afternoon, Oct 24. VPC members will participate.
The drill is oriented to an "El Nino" inspired rainstorm and windstorm scenario. Participation in the drill should help prepare us for the kind of damage we might encounter to structures, power poles and power lines, trees, creeks and communications. It is expected that torrential rain and heavy winds will wreak significant damage and recovery delays on each neighborhood.
Varsity Park CERT is participating. We will practice assessing and reporting (simulated) damage and using effective radio communication.
Please let us know by email if you intend to participate in the drill. We will add your email to a drill specific mailing list.
This drill it is a timely opportunity to refresh and prepare (see the impact and devastation caused by the Category 2 hurricane hitting the East Coast ...)
